Polaris - Martyr (Waves)

I’ve been enjoying Polaris’ latest album Fatalism. It wasn’t on my radar in 2023, but I’m making up for lost time. Naturally, I’ve been digging into the discography and found the song “Martyr (Waves)” from 2020’s The Death Of Me. The song uses a familiar formula for a (metalcore) ballad: somber verses, soaring choruses, and a memorable guitar solo. They execute it all perfectly. It’s a highlight in their catalog and made even more poignant with the death of guitarist Ryan Siew in 2023.
