The Tainted Cup

I decided to read The Tainted Cup by Robert Jackson Bennett, after Brandon Sanderson recommended it on his YouTube channel. The biopunk world is set in the empire of Khanum, which is under regular threat from deep-ocean leviathans. The “apoths” (scientists) use leviathan-powered research to modify and give abilities to plants and humans. Humans with modified abilities are call “sublimes”. And if all that world building wasn’t enough, the main plotline is a murder mystery that finds engraver Dinios Kol (modified to remember everything) assisting Iudex investigator Ana Dolabra. If any of that sounds interesting, I highly recommend the book.
