Jade City

I learned of Jade City by Fonda Lee through Brandon Sanderson’s podcast. It’s a story about warring clans of Green Bone warriors on the island of Kekon. Green Bones wear jade and harness power from the gemstones into different abilities. As it’s the first book in the series, there’s naturally significant world building and recounting of history. However, I enjoyed the family dynamics, the action, and power conflicts between the clans.
